Sweet Escape Joys

Finally, I've got to know this song. I've been hearing this on the airwaves but wasn't able to know who sang it and its title. Lego House by Ed Sheeran fills my head for quite a while now, it's like paulit-ulit na, but I'm loving it... hehehe. Love the lyrics most especially this part...And out of all these things I've done, I will love you better now.

LEGO HOUSE
Ed Sheeran

I'm gonna pick up the pieces,
and build a lego house
when things go wrong we can knock it down

My three words have two meanings, there's one thing on my mind
It's all for you

And it's dark in a cold December, but I've got ya to keep me warm
and if you're broke I'll mend ya and keep you sheltered from the storm that's raging on now

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down
and of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind
I'll do it all for you in time
And of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

I'm gonna paint you by numbers
and colour you in
if things go right we can frame it, and put you on a wall

And it's so hard to say it but I've been here before
and I'll surrender up my heart
and swap it for yours

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down
and of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind
I'll do it all for you in time
And of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

Don't hold me down
I think my braces are breaking and it's more than I can take

And if it's dark in a cold December, I've got ya to keep me warm
and if you're broke I'll mend ya and keep you sheltered from the storm that's raging on

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down
and of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind
I'll do it all for you in time
And of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

I love this new song from Iron and Wine. It's a happy song about a man's love for his lady. Looking back on the memories of their budding love and how it had bloomed through the years. Time may have passed, but despite the changes, the couple is still together. The man is celebrating while saying... 'happy to be with you and you were happy for me'.

TREE BY THE RIVER
Iron and Wine

Mary Anne, do you remember
The tree by the river
When we were seventeen?

Dark canyon wall, the call and the answer
And the mare in the pasture
Pitch black and baring its teeth

I recall the sun in our faces
Stuck and leaning on graces
And being strangers to change

Radio and the bones we found frozen
And all the thorns and the roses
Beneath your window pane

Now I'm asleep in a car
I mean the world to a parted-mouth girl
A pretty pair of blue-eyed birds

"Time isn't kind or unkind," you liked to say
But I wonder to who
And what it is you're saying today

Now I'm asleep in a car
I mean the world to a parted-mouth girl
A pretty pair of blue-eyed birds

"Time isn't kind or unkind," you liked to say
But I wonder to who
And what it is you're saying today

Mary Anne, do you remember
The tree by the river
When we were seventeen?

Dark canyon road, I was coy in the half-moon
Happy just to be with you
And you were happy for me

The very long celebration of the Yuletide Season in the Philippines will soon be over. Colourful displays and the flickering lights will rest in boxes again. Songs of Christmas playing at every street you ill no longer hear... signs of happy holidays will soon be over, time to go back to more serious life.
The Christmas Season is the most wonderful time of the year as the famous song by late Andy Williams tells about it and indeed, it is! I love Christmas-good time for reunions with kin folks and friends, gift-giving, food feast, bonuses (haha!) and it's a time when you will see everyone's smiling, cheerful, so merry... everyone's in a very happy mood.

Every year, MERALCO open it's gates to all who wants to experience their version of Christmas-- a very huge belen and lots of tiny colourful lights display plus the cute train to which kids at heart like me can ride into. They set up this gigantic belen sculpture every year (yeah, I know it 'cause actually, I'm working near the vicinity) but never get tired looking at it, it's so beautiful. It is crafted from copper wires just like the village houses below. I'm still wondering how long it took to finish all the sculptures, so intricately done! There's also these candy-colored houses near the train and a big christmas tree at the middle of the lawn.

I went here last January 4, 2013... yes, just me... but  being alone didn't made me lonely for I've been surrounded by lights and a scenery that amazes me.  I took a ride on the train with some random people and enjoyed that very short ride. I'm like a child again, savouring the joys like it was my first time experience.

Have taken only a few pictures because my camera's battery hit empty. *sigh*

Lessons learned: Use less flash and make sure to have it fully charged! hehehe

Iron and Wine's Passing Afternoon is one of the best tracks in their album, 'Our Endless Numbered Days'. I first heard their song, 'Flightless Bird, American Mouth' on Twilight OST and I was amazed eversince. This song, Passing Afternoon is lovely, though the lyrics a bit sad, the words really cuts deep through our emotions. A song about love and lost, memories you will always remember but you'll never be the same, never would be complete again once you've lost that one very special person in your life. It's not that they had a change of heart but something far beyond our control, death.

'There are things that drift away like our endless, numbered days...
There are things we can't recall, blind as night that finds us all
Sometimes, with the windows closed, she'll sit and think of me...
A baby sleeps in all our bones, so scared to be alone.'

PASSING AFTERNOON
Iron and Wine

There are times that walk from you like some passing afternoon
Summer warmed the open window of her honeymoon
And she chose a yard to burn but the ground remembers her
Wooden spoons, her children stir her Bougainvillea blooms

There are things that drift away like our endless, numbered days
Autumn blew the quilt right off the perfect bed she made
And she's chosen to believe in the hymns her mother sings
Sunday pulls it's children from their piles of fallen leaves

There are sailing ships that pass all our bodies in the grass
Springtime calls her children 'till she let's them go at last
And she's chosen where to be, though she's lost her wedding ring
Somewhere near her misplaced jar of Bougainvillea seeds

There are things we can't recall, blind as night that finds us all
Winter tucks her children in, her fragile china dolls
But my hands remember hers, rolling 'round the shaded ferns
Naked arms, her secrets still like songs I'd never learned

There are names across the sea, only now I do believe
Sometimes, with the windows closed, she'll sit and think of me
But she'll mend his tattered clothes and they'll kiss as if they know
A baby sleeps in all our bones, so scared to be alone

January 1, 2013. Yes, today is the start of a new year. While many are have hangovers due to last nights' celebration... I wanted to start this day by writing for my blog.

The year 2012 had been great for me and I'm so thankful. Every year I do spend ample time to reflect and plan for the things I want to do with my life. I have very short yet realistic and achievable resolutions that with all of my best I should accomplish. Of course, there's for health, career, personal growth and some material things. Though I've only cut-off eight pounds from my weight for the entire year, well I think it's better than having not to lose any. Losing some extra pounds really needs dedication. I joined Zumba sessions every week but this I started only last November. Also, I've included on my list to learn new language. I've tried French before but it's just not for me. Now, I've picked Korean, one that's closer to my heart since I love koreanovelas, K-Pop, the people, the culture, the country, need I say more? hehehe. I learned Hangul, their way of writing and some of their words and phrases. Annyeong haseyo! 안녕하세요! Hello! That's the simplest, actually. Also, I've enrolled in an online course 6.00x Introduction to Computer Science and Programming by EdX.org. It's a good way to learn something new from reputable professors from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, Berkeley University and other famous universities abroad... FOR FREE! (of course, you just need good Internet connection and spare time to fully enjoy this!) Restarted to play guitar again. I said restarted since I've already learned to play it long time ago, so I still remember how to play with the chords. I've always wanted to learn to play at least one musical instrument so that eventually I can compose songs also, aside from always singing other artists piece. I really love Music! Also, this the year I've started blogging. Equipped with loads of the things I love to write about and share to 'madlang people' and some blogging pointers, I was able to create three blogs actually. The first two were like my 'test' blogs and this one, sweetescapejoys.blogspot.com will be the official blog of androidsiopao. Lastly, I was able to buy a new cam - Olympus VG-170 and it's white! Love it! hehehe

This 2013 will be better than the previous years! More friends, more travels, more things to learn, more blessings a happier, healthy and full life I'll have and I claim it! =)
