Sweet Escape Joys


TAHO, or soybean curd pudding for the 'sosyal' ones, is one of the best Filipino treats you can find around the metro. Very affordable and delicious. 

Taho comprises of three main ingredients: fresh soft or silken tofu, arnibal (brown sugar and vanilla syrup) and sago (tapioca pearls). Usually, this comfort food is prepared before dawn. Magtataho (taho peddlers) carries two aluminum buckets (the large one holds the curd and the other, the arnibal and sago) that hang in each end of the wooden yoke and call out "TahoooooĆ“!"  to attract customers.  Though plastic cups comes in handy, people would then carry out their own cups or mugs for Manong Magtataho to fill-in, (hehehe, mas marami kapag may sariling baso at suki ka na!). 

Now, taho comes in different flavors - strawberry, ube, chocolate and buko pandan but I still prefer the ever  tasty classic ones. 

I really enjoyed eating taho every morning before going to work. Love it!
